Dermal fillers can improve skin contour and loss of volume related to many different facial concerns. This can include:
The majority of dermal fillers on the market today are gel-like substances containing hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is not an acid at all, but rather a natural sugar produced in the body that helps the skin retain moisture. When this gel is injected into the treatment area, this gel works to fill in fine lines and wrinkles or plump up areas with lost volume.
Treatments typically take under an hour and the results are immediate, though some minor swelling is possible immediately after the procedure. Results are not permanent but can last from months to over a year, depending on the location and the filler used.
Your dermal filler treatment plan begins with an initial consultation where our specialists will evaluate your facial skin tone and appearance in order to create an individualized treatment plan. Before your treatment, they may mark injection points. Your skin is then cleaned, and an anesthetic ointment is administered if necessary.
At this point, the injection process starts with our specialist injecting, massaging, and evaluating the results as they go in order to determine if additional filler is necessary. Altogether, the injection time can range between 15 minutes and an hour based on how many areas are being treated.
After your dermal filler treatment, you can experience some slight swelling, but you will also be able to see your results immediately after your treatment. Dermal fillers are not, however, permanent and re-treatment will be necessary to maintain results for the long term.
Dermal fillers, when administered by a professional, are a safe treatment option. Given that most fillers contain hyaluronic acid as the main ingredient, it is not foreign to your body, and allergic reactions are rare. However, as with all medical procedures, there are potential risks. These can include:
BOTOX® is another form of injectable treatment that works slightly differently and targets different concerns. BOTOX is a neuromodulator, meaning it disrupts the signals from nerves to muscles. BOTOX injections target dynamic wrinkles or those that are caused by facial movements. BOTOX injections relax those muscles, making the wrinkles less noticeable. If you have a combination of facial concerns, you may achieve the best results through a combination of BOTOX and dermal filler injections.
